PerinatalPath Observations...

Dr. Waters has observed a high percentage of changes that
indicate some babies do not receive enough oxygen in the womb.
This observation is important in the neurological development of
infants and children because the developing brain is extremely
sensitive to decreased oxygen levels.

Placental changes may be a risk factor for such problems as
autism, cerebral palsy, and learning disabilities. As Dr. Waters
began her career in clinical pediatrics, she was also screening
infants and children for potential developmental problems. The
placenta can also reveal abnormalities with blood clotting in the
mother or baby which may require treatment to prevent future
health problems such as miscarriages, stillborns, strokes, and
pulmonary embolisms. Dr. Waters has had special training in the
analysis of stillborns in order to determine causes and information
important for potential future pregnancies and other health issues.
